Betty Crutchlow (Woodruff) Israel

Betty Crutchlow (Woodruff) Israel, 93, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, April 20, 2014 with her loving family by her side.

Betty, a native of Greensville County, Virginia, was the daughter of the late John Russell Woodruff, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Tudor Woodruff. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Jackson Crutchlow, Ben Israel, sister Elsie Purcell and two brothers Wesley N. Woodruff and John Russell Woodruff, Jr.

Betty retired from Halifax Memorial Hospital with over 30 years of service.

Surviving is her daughter, Betsy C. Fackler and her husband George Bassilakis of Bloomfield, Connecticut; her sons, Herbert J. ''Herbie'' Crutchlow and his wife Linda, John E. Crutchlow, Sr. and his wife Glenda both of Roanoke Rapids; her sister, Barbara Miller of Roanoke Rapids; sisters-in-law, Ann Woodruff of Emporia, VA, and Flo Crutchlow of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Shari Martin and her husband Andy, Bruce Fackler and his wife Patricia, Lori Crutchlow, Eddie Crutchlow, Stefanie Crutchlow, Anthony Crutchlow and Kimberly Martin; four great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Minto, Aaron Carta, Rebecca Carta and Brandi Yarborough; three great great-grandchildren, Madalin Yarboro, Candace Rawlings and Ella Minto; several nieces and nephews; and a special thank you to Liberty Commons and Community Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Rosemary United Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Pam Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Greensville Memorial Cemetery in Emporia, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 P.M. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids and other times at 419 Sunset Ave., Roanoke Rapids.
